Description
Compare sequential percentage discounts with adding their fractions.
Campaign bookkeeping distinguishes actual records from supplied rules, discounts, retention assumptions and spending periods. Sequential discounts compound on changing bases, while an adstock update depends on a declared period and retention factor. A click flag or local score term does not establish consent, causal response or financial performance.
Compare sequential percentage discounts with adding their fractions.
When to use this tool
Use Promotion Sequential Discount Gap when you already have initialPrice, firstDiscountFraction, secondDiscountFraction and need to compare sequential percentage discounts with adding their fractions.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter initialPrice, firstDiscountFraction, secondDiscountFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read sequentialPrice, summedDiscountPrice, sequentialMinusSummed. Use the output convention below.
Require initialPrice>=0 and each discount fraction in [0,1]; sequential=price*(1-first)*(1-second), summed=price*(1-first-second), difference=price*first*second.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| initialPrice | Initial Price | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| firstDiscountFraction | First Discount Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| secondDiscountFraction | Second Discount Fraction | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| sequentialPrice | Sequential Price | Required. Finite number. |
| summedDiscountPrice | Summed Discount Price | Required. Finite number. |
| sequentialMinusSummed | Sequential price minus additive-discount price; the additive scenario may be negative. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Summed-discount price can be negative; fractions are decimal discounts and no promotion terms or actual payable price are determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original campaign events, offer terms and financial records for actual charges and statuses. Fit and validate a complete model when estimating response or retention; one supplied rule, price delta or pacing term does not provide that evidence.
