Description
Compare campaign spend fraction with elapsed-period fraction.
Campaign bookkeeping distinguishes actual records from supplied rules, discounts, retention assumptions and spending periods. Sequential discounts compound on changing bases, while an adstock update depends on a declared period and retention factor. A click flag or local score term does not establish consent, causal response or financial performance.
Compare campaign spend fraction with elapsed-period fraction.
When to use this tool
Use Campaign Spend Pacing Period when you already have spentAmount, totalBudget, elapsedPeriod, totalPeriod and need to compare campaign spend fraction with elapsed-period fraction.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter spentAmount, totalBudget, elapsedPeriod, totalPeriod. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read spendFraction, elapsedFraction, pacingDifference. Use the output convention below.
Require spend>=0, positive budget/total period and elapsed within the period; return spend/budget, elapsed/total and spend fraction minus elapsed fraction.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| spentAmount | Spent Amount | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| totalBudget | Total Budget | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| elapsedPeriod | Nonnegative duration no greater than totalPeriod, in the same time unit. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| totalPeriod | Total Period | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| spendFraction | spentAmount/totalBudget; overspending may exceed one. | Required. Finite number. |
| elapsedFraction | Elapsed Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| pacingDifference | Pacing Difference | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Spend may exceed budget; the comparison assumes a linear time reference and does not forecast performance or optimize spending.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original campaign events, offer terms and financial records for actual charges and statuses. Fit and validate a complete model when estimating response or retention; one supplied rule, price delta or pacing term does not provide that evidence.
