Mural Panel Registration Overlap

Calculate explicit two-panel union length under a supplied overlap without aligning or registering images.

Description

Calculate combined panel length after subtracting one mural-registration overlap.

Artwork dimensions depend on whether a measurement describes the image, support, window, overlap or reserved edge. Linear enlargement multiplies area by the square and volume by the cube of the scale. A signed clearance or width adjustment retains useful direction information, while a nominal geometric fit still needs material, production and installation context.

Calculate combined panel length after subtracting one mural-registration overlap.

When to use this tool

Use Mural Panel Registration Overlap when you already have firstPanelLength, secondPanelLength, suppliedOverlap and need to calculate combined panel length after subtracting one mural-registration overlap.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstPanelLength, secondPanelLength, suppliedOverlap. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read combinedVisibleLength. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative panel lengths and overlap in [0,min(lengths)]; return first+second-overlap.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
firstPanelLengthFirst Panel LengthRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
secondPanelLengthSecond Panel LengthRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
suppliedOverlapSupplied OverlapRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Uses one shared linear direction and a supplied overlap; no image alignment, fastening or installation suitability is checked.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check an actual dimensioned layout or calibrated test piece for mounting and production. Use a geometric model for full enlargement or overlap accounting, and physical drawdowns or material tests when thickness behavior matters.
