Exhibition Label Hanging Height Offset

Subtract an explicit reference height from a recorded exhibition label height on compatible units.

Description

Measure an exhibition label's signed height offset from a supplied reference.

Artwork dimensions depend on whether a measurement describes the image, support, window, overlap or reserved edge. Linear enlargement multiplies area by the square and volume by the cube of the scale. A signed clearance or width adjustment retains useful direction information, while a nominal geometric fit still needs material, production and installation context.

Measure an exhibition label's signed height offset from a supplied reference.

When to use this tool

Use Exhibition Label Hanging Height Offset when you already have suppliedReferenceHeight, recordedLabelHeight and need to measure an exhibition label's signed height offset from a supplied reference.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter suppliedReferenceHeight, recordedLabelHeight. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.

Return recordedLabelHeight-suppliedReferenceHeight in one common height unit and datum.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
suppliedReferenceHeightSupplied Reference HeightRequired. Finite number.
recordedLabelHeightRecorded Label HeightRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
signedGapSigned GapRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The reference is caller supplied; no mounting, accessibility, viewing or exhibition requirement is selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check an actual dimensioned layout or calibrated test piece for mounting and production. Use a geometric model for full enlargement or overlap accounting, and physical drawdowns or material tests when thickness behavior matters.
