Description
Locate either one-third line of a supplied composition span.
Artwork dimensions depend on whether a measurement describes the image, support, window, overlap or reserved edge. Linear enlargement multiplies area by the square and volume by the cube of the scale. A signed clearance or width adjustment retains useful direction information, while a nominal geometric fit still needs material, production and installation context.
Locate either one-third line of a supplied composition span.
When to use this tool
Use Composition Grid Third Line Coordinate when you already have origin, span, secondThird and need to locate either one-third line of a supplied composition span.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter origin, span, secondThird. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read coordinate. Use the output convention below.
Return origin+span/3, or origin+2*span/3 when secondThird=true; signed span is retained.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| origin | Origin | Required. Finite number. |
| span | Signed coordinate span; the selected third follows its direction. | Required. Finite number. |
| secondThird | Second Third | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| coordinate | Coordinate | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Coordinates are supplied; no image analysis, aesthetic judgment or layout optimization is performed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Check an actual dimensioned layout or calibrated test piece for mounting and production. Use a geometric model for full enlargement or overlap accounting, and physical drawdowns or material tests when thickness behavior matters.
