Raised Bed Liner Area

Calculate rectangular internal wall area plus optional base area without adding seams, overlap, or waste allowances.

Description

Calculate rectangular raised-bed liner area, optionally including its base.

City-garden planning combines nominal container geometry, route lengths, water masses, access sides and shared-resource accounting. A litre quantity becomes mass only with a density, while reach depends on the declared accessible sides. Simple margins and shares organize supplied measurements; material behavior, structural capacity and individual access needs require separate assessment.

Calculate rectangular raised-bed liner area, optionally including its base.

When to use this tool

Use Raised Bed Liner Area when you already have internalLength, internalWidth, wallHeight, includeBase and need to calculate rectangular raised-bed liner area, optionally including its base.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter internalLength, internalWidth, wallHeight, includeBase. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read linerArea. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative internalLength/internalWidth/wallHeight; return 2*height*(length+width), adding length*width when includeBase.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
internalLengthInternal LengthRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
internalWidthInternal WidthRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
wallHeightWall HeightRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
includeBaseInclude BaseRequired. Boolean.

linerAreaLiner AreaRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Uses ideal internal faces; excludes overlaps, corners, seams, waste, drainage and material suitability.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Measure the actual bed, container and access routes before applying nominal dimensions. For roof loading or water delivery, use the full support or hydraulic calculation; reconcile volunteer and harvest records over one common accounting period.
