Use this tool to allocate a tax payment across caller-ordered liabilities.
Choose the specific arithmetic or checklist scenario and establish its input amounts, dates, rates and criteria from the applicable records. Keep currencies, periods and jurisdictions consistent; review the tool-specific assumptions before interpreting the result.
How to use Tax Payment Allocation and understand its results
- Choose the specific arithmetic or checklist scenario and establish its input amounts, dates, rates and criteria from the applicable records. Keep currencies, periods and jurisdictions consistent; review the tool-specific assumptions before interpreting the result.
- Enter paymentAmount, orderedLiabilities using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read allocatedAmounts, totalAllocated, unappliedPayment, remainingLiability. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| paymentAmount | Payment amount | number; minimum: 0 | Required |
| orderedLiabilities | Liabilities in allocation order | list of number | Required |
Enter nonnegative payment and an ordered nonnegative liability list. Apply payment sequentially and return ordered allocations, total allocated, unapplied payment and aggregate remaining liability. An empty list leaves all payment unapplied.
allocation_i=min(liability_i,remainingPayment); remainingPayment decreases after each item Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| allocatedAmounts | Amounts allocated by liability | list of number |
| totalAllocated | Total allocated | number; minimum: 0 |
| unappliedPayment | Unapplied payment | number; minimum: 0 |
| remainingLiability | Remaining liability | number; minimum: 0 |

} Limitations and assumptions
No authority-prescribed allocation order, interest accrual or tax-period priority is inferred. Use the intended order and one currency basis.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
