Partnership Allocation Check
Check whether partner allocations reconcile to the partnership total.
Description
Partnership allocations can be reconciled against an aggregate amount.
Partnership allocations can be reconciled against an aggregate amount. An arithmetic reconciliation is separate from determining whether an allocation is legally permissible.1
Check whether partner allocations reconcile to the partnership total.
When to use Partnership Allocation Check
Use this tool to check whether partner allocations reconcile to the partnership total.
Choose the specific arithmetic or checklist scenario and establish its input amounts, dates, rates and criteria from the applicable records. Keep currencies, periods and jurisdictions consistent; review the tool-specific assumptions before interpreting the result.
How to use Partnership Allocation Check and understand its results
- Choose the specific arithmetic or checklist scenario and establish its input amounts, dates, rates and criteria from the applicable records. Keep currencies, periods and jurisdictions consistent; review the tool-specific assumptions before interpreting the result.
- Enter partnerAllocations, partnershipTotal, tolerance using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read allocatedTotal, difference, withinTolerance. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| partnerAllocations | Partner allocations | list of number | Required |
| partnershipTotal | Partnership total | number | Required |
| tolerance | Allowed difference | number; minimum: 0 | Required |
Enter a nonempty list of signed allocations, signed total amount and nonnegative absolute tolerance. Return allocated total, signed difference and an inclusive tolerance flag.
difference=Σallocations−totalAmount; withinTolerance=|difference|≤tolerance Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| allocatedTotal | Allocated total | number |
| difference | Allocation difference | number |
| withinTolerance | Within supplied tolerance | boolean |

Negative amounts are allowed for loss scenarios. Substantial-economic-effect rules, ownership percentages and capital accounts are not evaluated.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.
