SKU Case Each Quantity Remainder

Split an explicit each-unit inventory into whole cases and remainder units using exact integer division.

Description

Split available individual units into whole cases and a remainder.

Supply-chain counts distinguish individual units, case packs, dispatches, receipts, in-transit stock and returns. A signed residual can expose an inconsistent record rather than prove physical loss. Costs, clearances and expiry/retest dates use separate conventions; accurate arithmetic does not replace stock inspection, material release or contractual review.

Split available individual units into whole cases and a remainder.

When to use this tool

Use SKU Case Each Quantity Remainder when you already have availableEach, eachPerCase and need to split available individual units into whole cases and a remainder.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter availableEach, eachPerCase. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read wholeCases, remainderEach. Use the output convention below.

Require safe whole availableEach>=0 and eachPerCase>=1; use BigInt division/remainder, exporting wholeCases and remainderEach as numbers.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
availableEachAvailable EachRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
eachPerCaseEach Per CaseRequired. Safe integer; minimum 1.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
wholeCasesWhole CasesRequired. Safe integer.
remainderEachWhole individual units after removing complete cases; less than eachPerCase.Required. Safe integer.

Limitations and assumptions

  • All quantities assume identical countable units and an exact case pack; damaged stock or fractional units are outside the model.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile item-level dispatch, receipt, return and inventory ledgers against physical stock and lot records. Use actual package dimensions, handling plans and release documents when a quantity margin alone cannot answer an operational question.
