Ordered Received Backordered Split

Compare explicit ordered and received unit counts without asserting that unreceived units are contractually backordered.

Description

Separate an outstanding ordered quantity from extra units received.

Supply-chain counts distinguish individual units, case packs, dispatches, receipts, in-transit stock and returns. A signed residual can expose an inconsistent record rather than prove physical loss. Costs, clearances and expiry/retest dates use separate conventions; accurate arithmetic does not replace stock inspection, material release or contractual review.

Separate an outstanding ordered quantity from extra units received.

When to use this tool

Use Ordered Received Backordered Split when you already have orderedUnits, receivedUnits and need to separate an outstanding ordered quantity from extra units received.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter orderedUnits, receivedUnits. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read stillOrderedUnits, extraReceivedUnits. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative safe whole ordered/received counts; return positive parts of ordered-received and received-ordered.1

orderedUnitsOrdered UnitsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
receivedUnitsReceived UnitsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The result does not confirm a backorder, delivery entitlement or stock quality.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile item-level dispatch, receipt, return and inventory ledgers against physical stock and lot records. Use actual package dimensions, handling plans and release documents when a quantity margin alone cannot answer an operational question.
