Spirometry Start End Marker Gap

Measure an explicit spirometry marker interval without determining forced-expiration validity.

Loading tool…

Description

Measure the interval between spirometry start and end markers.

Respiratory records distinguish signal markers, gas-reference bases, collection validity codes and selected prediction equations. A supplied interval or zero subtraction is only one part of a measurement workflow. Unit labels and device-use discrepancies do not validate a maneuver, estimate a disease state or determine appropriate medication use.

Measure the interval between spirometry start and end markers.

When to use this tool

Use Spirometry Start End Marker Gap when you already have startMarkerSeconds, endMarkerSeconds and need to measure the interval between spirometry start and end markers.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter startMarkerSeconds, endMarkerSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read durationSeconds. Use the output convention below.

Require endMarkerSeconds>=startMarkerSeconds; return end-start in seconds.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Markers are supplied; no maneuver quality, curve, pulmonary function or diagnosis is evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original respiratory trace, acquisition protocol and reference-equation definition when interpreting a test. Keep gas-reference bases and supplied quality codes explicit; a zero subtraction, interval or counter discrepancy does not validate the complete measurement.
