Description
Measure a recorded sleep-respiratory event's duration.
Respiratory records distinguish signal markers, gas-reference bases, collection validity codes and selected prediction equations. A supplied interval or zero subtraction is only one part of a measurement workflow. Unit labels and device-use discrepancies do not validate a maneuver, estimate a disease state or determine appropriate medication use.
Measure a recorded sleep-respiratory event's duration.
When to use this tool
Use Sleep Respiratory Event Duration when you already have startSeconds, endSeconds and need to measure a recorded sleep-respiratory event's duration.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter startSeconds, endSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read durationSeconds. Use the output convention below.
Require endSeconds>=startSeconds; return end-start.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| startSeconds | Start Seconds | Required. Finite number. |
| endSeconds | End Seconds | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| durationSeconds | Duration Seconds | Required. Finite number. |
{
"input": {
"startSeconds": 100,
"endSeconds": 115
},
"output": {
"durationSeconds": 15
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- No event is detected or classified, and duration alone does not establish a sleep disorder or treatment need.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the original respiratory trace, acquisition protocol and reference-equation definition when interpreting a test. Keep gas-reference bases and supplied quality codes explicit; a zero subtraction, interval or counter discrepancy does not validate the complete measurement.
