Description
Subtract only an explicit pause’s overlap with a half-open administrative clock window.
An administrative calculation applies supplied clocks, fees, exclusions, roles, and document conditions. Numeric consistency and an explicit condition match can be useful record checks. They do not select the governing authority, verify evidence, or establish legal rights and obligations.

When to use this tool
Use Open Clock Pause Overlap when you need a supplied administrative fee, clock, role, document, or accounting calculation before checking its substantive basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter clockStart, clockEnd, pauseStart, pauseEnd. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read grossDuration, pausedInside, runningDuration. Use the output convention below.
Intersect ordered clock and pause intervals for pausedInside and return grossDuration=clockEnd-clockStart and runningDuration=grossDuration-pausedInside.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| clockStart | Clock Start | Required. Finite number. |
| clockEnd | Clock End | Required. Finite number. |
| pauseStart | Pause Start | Required. Finite number. |
| pauseEnd | Pause End | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| grossDuration | Gross Duration | Required. Finite number. |
| pausedInside | Paused Inside | Required. Finite number. |
| runningDuration | Running Duration | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Intervals use continuous lengths without endpoint additions. Only one pause is modeled, and eligible exclusions, working-hour calendars, and official clock rules are not inferred.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Consult the applicable authoritative rule and verify source records before deciding fees, authority, deadlines, or obligations. Keep a supplied scenario calculation separate from that evidence review.
