Grant Cofinancing Shortfall Tool

Compare available cofinancing with a match expressed explicitly as a fraction of the grant, rather than a share of total project cost.

Description

Multiply grantAmount by nonnegative requiredMatchFraction for requiredMatch and floor required minus availableMatch at zero for shortfall.

Public-sector budget and procurement quantities use specified amounts, contribution shares, and charging bases. A component calculation does not establish procurement compliance, funding eligibility, or the full cost of a program.

Multiply grantAmount by nonnegative requiredMatchFraction for requiredMatch and floor required minus availableMatch at zero for shortfall.

When to use this tool

Use Grant Cofinancing Shortfall when you need a narrow budget, contribution, or fee calculation from supplied amounts.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter grantAmount, requiredMatchFraction, availableMatch. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read requiredMatch, shortfall. Use the output convention below.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Match fraction is relative to the grant, not total project cost, and is not capped at one; actual grant terms and eligible match sources are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile the calculation with the approved budget, governing rules, and complete procurement or funding record.
