Prosthesis Polish Mass Loss Term Tool

Separate measured polishing loss from supplied removable residue.

Description

Separate measured polishing loss from supplied removable residue.

Dental laboratory and prosthetic research records distinguish measured dimensions, reference targets, material quantities, and evidence flags. Ratios and residuals depend on those measurement conventions. An idealized bench term or metadata match is separate from fabrication quality and clinical fit or suitability.

Separate measured polishing loss from supplied removable residue.

When to use this tool

Use Prosthesis Polish Mass Loss Term when you need the stated laboratory, bench, geometry, or device-record term from already supplied measurements or annotations.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter beforeMass, afterMass, cleanedResidue, initialSurfaceArea. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read grossLoss, netLoss, lossPerArea, fraction. Use the output convention below.

Return grossLoss=beforeMass-afterMass, netLoss=grossLoss-cleanedResidue, lossPerArea=netLoss/initialSurfaceArea, and fraction=netLoss/beforeMass. Require positive before mass and area and nonnegative deductions.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Losses can be negative and cleaned residue is subtracted under the supplied bookkeeping convention. The tool does not verify polishing quality, wear, contamination, surface safety, or clinical acceptability.
  • The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete geometric, material, or laboratory method when the task requires more than one bench term. Clinical suitability requires a separate professional assessment.
