Prosthesis Bench Gap Closure Tool

Signed bench gap closure with independently supplied imposed displacement and return.

Description

Signed bench gap closure with independently supplied imposed displacement and return.

Dental laboratory and prosthetic research records distinguish measured dimensions, reference targets, material quantities, and evidence flags. Ratios and residuals depend on those measurement conventions. An idealized bench term or metadata match is separate from fabrication quality and clinical fit or suitability.

Signed bench gap closure with independently supplied imposed displacement and return.

When to use this tool

Use Prosthesis Bench Gap Closure when you need the stated laboratory, bench, geometry, or device-record term from already supplied measurements or annotations.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter initialGap, imposedDisplacement, elasticReturn. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read remainingGap, closed. Inspect closed before interpreting the associated values.

Calculate remainingGap=initialGap-imposedDisplacement+elasticReturn and closed when that result is at most zero. Require nonnegative terms and elasticReturn within imposedDisplacement.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative remaining gap represents modeled overclosure, not a corrected physical result. No elastic law, contact force, safe adjustment, or clinical fit is inferred.
  • The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete geometric, material, or laboratory method when the task requires more than one bench term. Clinical suitability requires a separate professional assessment.
