Description
Compare supplied bench fit measurements and targets; no clinical acceptability criterion.
Dental laboratory and prosthetic research records distinguish measured dimensions, reference targets, material quantities, and evidence flags. Ratios and residuals depend on those measurement conventions. An idealized bench term or metadata match is separate from fabrication quality and clinical fit or suitability.
Compare supplied bench fit measurements and targets; no clinical acceptability criterion.
When to use this tool
Use Prosthesis Fit Reference Gap when you need the stated laboratory, bench, geometry, or device-record term from already supplied measurements or annotations.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measuredGaps, suppliedTargetGaps, weights. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read weightedMeanResidual, maximumAbsoluteResidual, totalWeight, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.
Calculate gap residuals and their weighted mean using nonnegative aligned weights. Return maximumAbsoluteResidual over every residual, including zero-weight rows, plus totalWeight and defined; zero total uses mean zero with defined false.1

| weightedMeanResidual | Weighted Mean Residual | Required. Finite number. |
| maximumAbsoluteResidual | Maximum over all rows, including zero-weight rows. | Required. Finite number. |
| totalWeight | Total Weight | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The maximum is zero for an empty list. Measurements, targets, and weights are supplied, without assessing clinical fit, measurement validity, or acceptable adjustment limits.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete geometric, material, or laboratory method when the task requires more than one bench term. Clinical suitability requires a separate professional assessment.
