Description
Return net/input as yieldFraction and (input-net)/input as scrapFraction.
A material balance tracks input, output, recovery, and unaccounted quantities on a common mass basis. A recovered amount is not automatically suitable for reuse.
Return net/input as yieldFraction and (input-net)/input as scrapFraction.
When to use this tool
Use Net Yield Scrap Share Crosswalk when you need a supplied material-reconciliation or reuse share.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter inputMass, netOutputMass. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read yieldFraction, scrapFraction. Use the output convention below.
Require positive inputMass and netOutputMass between zero and input. Return net/input as yieldFraction and (input-net)/input as scrapFraction.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| inputMass | Input Mass | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| netOutputMass | Net Output Mass | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| yieldFraction | Yield Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| scrapFraction | Scrap Fraction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- These fractions partition the supplied mass difference; they do not distinguish actual scrap, evaporation, loss, or reusable recovery.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Verify measurements, losses, and material qualification before interpreting recovery as usable production input.
