Pulse Inter Beat Time Residual

Compare explicitly supplied pulse intervals without identifying arrhythmias or constructing an interbeat series.

Description

Compare a pulse inter-beat interval with a supplied reference interval.

Physiological signals have explicit sampling intervals, polarity, time origins and cycle conventions. One cycle period differs from a robust averaged rate, and wrapped external-clock phase differs from measured biological phase. Supplied markers and gas-reference labels organize data without detecting events or establishing normal physiology.

Compare a pulse inter-beat interval with a supplied reference interval.

When to use this tool

Use Pulse Inter Beat Time Residual when you already have observedIntervalMilliseconds, referenceIntervalMilliseconds and need to compare a pulse inter-beat interval with a supplied reference interval.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedIntervalMilliseconds, referenceIntervalMilliseconds. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read residualMilliseconds. Use the output convention below.

Require both intervals>0 in ms; return observed-reference milliseconds.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
observedIntervalMillisecondsObserved Interval MillisecondsRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
referenceIntervalMillisecondsReference Interval MillisecondsRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
residualMillisecondsResidual MillisecondsRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • No signal, rhythm, heart rate variability or clinical abnormality is evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original signal, event markers and acquisition clock when deriving physiological quantities. Use an appropriate multi-cycle or time-varying analysis when a single supplied interval, fixed sampling rate or wrapped external-time phase is insufficient.
