Description
Convert a recorded marker mass fraction between percentage and milligrams per gram.
Botanical analytical records connect voucher identities, plant parts, extraction wording, moisture basis and marker units. A dry-basis fraction uses dry mass as its denominator, while a printed drug-extract ratio still needs its stated basis. Source labels and arithmetic do not authenticate a medicinal plant, establish potency or determine safe herbal use.

When to use this tool
Use Pharmacognosy Marker Unit Crosswalk when you already have recordedValue, inputUnit and need to convert a recorded marker mass fraction between percentage and milligrams per gram.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter recordedValue, inputUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read milligramsPerGram, percentByMass. Use the output convention below.
Require value in [0,100] for percent or [0,1000] for mg/g; use 1%=10 mg/g.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| recordedValue | Percentage number 0..100 or mg/g number 0..1000, as selected by inputUnit. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| inputUnit | Input Unit | Required. Text; one of "percent", "mg/g"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| milligramsPerGram | Milligrams Per Gram | Required. Finite number. |
| percentByMass | Percent By Mass | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This assumes a common mass basis; no species, marker identity, assay validity, potency or suitable herbal use is established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the original voucher, analytical method, moisture basis and reference-material documentation. Botanical identity, extraction basis and marker quantity require their own evidence; a recorded ratio or mass-basis conversion does not establish equivalence or medicinal suitability.
