PD Assay Control Relative Value

Divide an explicit assay value by a nonzero supplied control on the same scale, preserving signed values.

Loading tool…

Description

Calculate an assay value relative to a nonzero supplied control.

Assay records separate concentration/effect units, control references, censoring and model parameters. An occupied/free complement assumes one common exhaustive total, while a control ratio is not automatically a percentage effect. Labels and local scalar operations do not fit a response model or establish potency, drug efficacy or an appropriate medication choice.

Calculate an assay value relative to a nonzero supplied control.

When to use this tool

Use PD Assay Control Relative Value when you already have assayValue, controlValue and need to calculate an assay value relative to a nonzero supplied control.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter assayValue, controlValue. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read relativeValue. Use the output convention below.

Require controlValue!=0; return assayValue/controlValue, retaining signed values.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
assayValueAssay ValueRequired. Finite number.
controlValueNonzero signed reference; no requirement that the ratio is a [0,1] response fraction.Required. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
relativeValueRelative ValueRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • A relative value may be negative or exceed one; no assay normalization validity, potency, significance or clinical interpretation is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the full assay controls, measurement units and response-model definition when estimating an effect. Fit or evaluate the intended concentration-response relationship explicitly; a control ratio, complement or parameter label does not infer that relationship.
