Description

Return one explicitly weighted research annotation term; no clinical surface-index weights are bundled.

Dental research records distinguish teeth, surfaces, sites, observations, exclusions, and reporting bases. Measurement resolution and missing observations affect interpretation differently. A chart token, site share, or measurement envelope can check supplied data without establishing a clinical finding.

Return one explicitly weighted research annotation term; no clinical surface-index weights are bundled.

When to use this tool

Use Surface Index Weight Term when you need this site-record, denominator, label, image-scale, or measurement component for supplied research data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter surfaceValue, suppliedWeight. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read contribution. Use the output convention below.

For nonnegative suppliedWeight return contribution=surfaceValue*suppliedWeight.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
surfaceValueSurface ValueRequired. Finite number.
suppliedWeightSupplied WeightRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • SurfaceValue and weight are supplied; the value may be signed and weights are not normalized. This is one index contribution, not a complete score or validated disease-severity measure.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the intended examination or measurement protocol with verified site identities and source records. Broader interpretation requires actual observations and appropriate measurement properties beyond one token or ratio.
