Readiness Tier Assignments
Assign differentiated activity tiers using current readiness scores.
Description
Readiness tiers group learners by two ordered score cutoffs.
Readiness tiers group learners by two ordered score cutoffs. The resulting lists describe the current input scores rather than fixed learner ability.1
Assign differentiated activity tiers using current readiness scores.
When to use Readiness Tier Assignments
Use this tool to assign differentiated activity tiers using current readiness scores.
Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.
How to use Readiness Tier Assignments and understand its results
- Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.
- Enter studentIds, readinessScores, intermediateCutoff, advancedCutoff using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read foundationIds, intermediateIds, advancedIds. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| studentIds | Student ids | list of string | Required |
| readinessScores | Readiness scores | list of number | Required |
| intermediateCutoff | Intermediate cutoff | number | Required |
| advancedCutoff | Advanced cutoff | number | Required |
Enter nonempty unique exact learner IDs, aligned finite scores and ordered finite cutoffs. Return three learner lists preserving input order. Equal cutoffs leave no intermediate band.
foundation=score<intermediate; intermediate=intermediate≤score<advanced; advanced=score≥advanced Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| foundationIds | Foundation ids | list of string |
| intermediateIds | Intermediate ids | list of string |
| advancedIds | Advanced ids | list of string |

} Limitations and assumptions
No assessment calibration or activity assignment is performed. Scores and cutoffs can be outside a percentage scale.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
