Curriculum Visibility Audit
Distinguish explicitly taught, unplanned observed, and omitted planned topics.
Description
Curriculum visibility distinguishes planned topics explicitly taught, planned omissions and declared unplanned observations.
Curriculum visibility distinguishes planned topics explicitly taught, planned omissions and declared unplanned observations. These categories organize labels rather than classroom evidence.1
Distinguish explicitly taught, unplanned observed, and omitted planned topics.
When to use Curriculum Visibility Audit
Use this tool to distinguish explicitly taught, unplanned observed, and omitted planned topics.
Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.
How to use Curriculum Visibility Audit and understand its results
- Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.
- Enter plannedTopics, taughtTopics, observedUnplannedTopics using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read explicitTopics, implicitTopics, nullTopics. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| plannedTopics | Planned topics | list of string | Required |
| taughtTopics | Taught topics | list of string | Required |
| observedUnplannedTopics | Observed unplanned topics | list of string | Required |
Enter nonempty distinct exact planned topics plus taught and unplanned lists. Reject any declared unplanned topic already planned. Return explicit/null lists in planned order and implicit topics in first-occurrence order.
explicit=planned∩taught; null=planned−taught; implicit=distinct unplanned observations Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| explicitTopics | Explicit topics | list of string |
| implicitTopics | Implicit topics | list of string |
| nullTopics | Null topics | list of string |

} Limitations and assumptions
Extra taught labels outside the plan are ignored unless separately recorded as unplanned. No topic content, implicit message or quality of teaching is interpreted.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Curriculum Standards Alignment: Audit which curriculum standards have lesson alignments and report coverage. For a complementary task, use Assessment Blueprint Coverage: Audit test-item counts against objectives and a caller-selected coverage minimum.
