Assessment Blueprint Coverage

Audit test-item counts against objectives and a caller-selected coverage minimum.

Description

An assessment blueprint links items to objectives and checks a minimum count per objective.

An assessment blueprint links items to objectives and checks a minimum count per objective. Presence alone may be less than the supplied coverage requirement.1

Audit test-item counts against objectives and a caller-selected coverage minimum.

When to use Assessment Blueprint Coverage

Use this tool to audit test-item counts against objectives and a caller-selected coverage minimum.

Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.

How to use Assessment Blueprint Coverage and understand its results

  1. Prepare the lesson timeline, roster, observations or assessment labels requested. Use consistent units and exact identifiers, then choose comparison criteria appropriate to the activity.
  2. Enter objectiveIds, itemObjectiveIds, minimumItemsPerObjective using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read itemCounts, uncoveredObjectiveIds, coveragePercent. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
Input fieldMeaningValue type; see rules belowRequirement
objectiveIdsObjective idslist of stringRequired
itemObjectiveIdsItem objective idslist of stringRequired
minimumItemsPerObjectiveMinimum items per objectivenumberRequired

Enter nonempty distinct exact objectives, known item-objective IDs and positive safe-integer minimum. Return counts in objective order, below-minimum IDs and percentage meeting the minimum. An empty item list is allowed.

itemCount(objective)=exact matching labels; covered if count≥minimum

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No item quality, cognitive level, weighting or objective interpretation is evaluated. Below-minimum objectives are named uncovered even if they have some items.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Bloom Two Dimension Coverage: Tabulate assessment items across Bloom cognitive and knowledge dimensions. For a complementary task, use Curriculum Standards Alignment: Audit which curriculum standards have lesson alignments and report coverage.
