Description

Descriptive fraction from caller-classified research counts; no cell identification, pathology grade or treatment implication.

Laboratory records distinguish specimen identity, sampling coverage, retained quantities, processing times, image scale, and measurement uncertainty. Areas, volumes, counts, and source-support flags measure different aspects of a record. A local calculation does not identify tissue or establish diagnostic adequacy.

When to use this tool

Use Tumor Research Cellularity Count Fraction when you need this specimen-record, sampling, processing-time, dimensional, or uncertainty calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter designatedCells, otherCells, excludedCells. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eligibleCells, fraction, excludedShare. Use the output convention below.

For nonnegative integer designatedCells, otherCells, and excludedCells require designated+other>0. Return eligibleCells=designated+other, fraction=designated/eligibleCells, and excludedShare=excluded/(eligibleCells+excluded).1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
designatedCellsDesignated CellsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
otherCellsOther CellsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
excludedCellsExcluded CellsRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
eligibleCellsEligible CellsRequired. Safe integer.
fractionDimensionless fraction under the stated basis.Required. Finite number.
excludedShareExcluded ShareRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Cell categories are supplied and exclusions enter only the excluded-share base. This count fraction does not identify cells, assess specimen adequacy, diagnose a tumor, or select a clinical threshold.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use validated laboratory procedures, traceable measurements, and authenticated specimen records for a complete assessment. Check the relevant sampling and processing assumptions before interpreting a local quantity.
