Description
Explicit research grid point fractions and eligible sampled area. Excluded hits are excluded from the designated/viable denominator and reported as a fraction of all hits; this does not classify tissue.
Laboratory records distinguish specimen identity, sampling coverage, retained quantities, processing times, image scale, and measurement uncertainty. Areas, volumes, counts, and source-support flags measure different aspects of a record. A local calculation does not identify tissue or establish diagnostic adequacy.

When to use this tool
Use Necrotic Area Research Grid Share when you need this specimen-record, sampling, processing-time, dimensional, or uncertainty calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter designatedHits, viableHits, excludedHits, pointsPerArea. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read eligiblePoints, designatedFraction, sampledArea, excludedFraction. Use the output convention below.
For nonnegative integer designatedHits, viableHits, and excludedHits require designated+viable>0 and positive pointsPerArea. Return eligiblePoints=designated+viable, designatedFraction=designated/eligible, excludedFraction=excluded/(eligible+excluded), and sampledArea=eligible/pointsPerArea.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- PointsPerArea is eligible sampling points per area unit. Categories and grid density are supplied; the arithmetic does not classify necrosis, validate stereological sampling, or establish clinical tumor features.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use validated laboratory procedures, traceable measurements, and authenticated specimen records for a complete assessment. Check the relevant sampling and processing assumptions before interpreting a local quantity.
