Description
For nonnegative integer cassettes and createdBlocks, positive plannedBlocksPerCassette, and exhaustedBlocks<=createdBlocks return expectedBlocks=cassettes*plannedBlocksPerCassette, missingBlocks=expected-created, and remainingCreated=created-exhausted.
Laboratory records distinguish specimen identity, sampling coverage, retained quantities, processing times, image scale, and measurement uncertainty. Areas, volumes, counts, and source-support flags measure different aspects of a record. A local calculation does not identify tissue or establish diagnostic adequacy.
For nonnegative integer cassettes and createdBlocks, positive plannedBlocksPerCassette, and exhaustedBlocks<=createdBlocks return expectedBlocks=cassettes*plannedBlocksPerCassette, missingBlocks=expected-created, and remainingCreated=created-exhausted.
When to use this tool
Use Pathology Cassette Block Count Reconcile when you need this specimen-record, sampling, processing-time, dimensional, or uncertainty calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter cassettes, plannedBlocksPerCassette, createdBlocks, exhaustedBlocks. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read expectedBlocks, missingBlocks, remainingCreated. Use the output convention below.
For nonnegative integer cassettes and createdBlocks, positive plannedBlocksPerCassette, and exhaustedBlocks<=createdBlocks return expectedBlocks=cassettes*plannedBlocksPerCassette, missingBlocks=expected-created, and remainingCreated=created-exhausted.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- MissingBlocks can be negative when more blocks were created than planned. The count budget does not verify specimen identity, tissue distribution, block availability, or diagnostic sampling adequacy.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use validated laboratory procedures, traceable measurements, and authenticated specimen records for a complete assessment. Check the relevant sampling and processing assumptions before interpreting a local quantity.
