Description
Identify exact duplicate fragment identifiers while retaining their positions.
Laboratory records distinguish specimen identity, sampling coverage, retained quantities, processing times, image scale, and measurement uncertainty. Areas, volumes, counts, and source-support flags measure different aspects of a record. A local calculation does not identify tissue or establish diagnostic adequacy.
Identify exact duplicate fragment identifiers while retaining their positions.
When to use this tool
Use Fragment Count Double Count Witness when you need this specimen-record, sampling, processing-time, dimensional, or uncertainty calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter fragmentIds. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read uniqueCount, duplicatePositions. Use the output convention below.
Scan fragmentIds in order. Return uniqueCount and every zero-based position whose token appeared earlier as duplicatePositions.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| fragmentIds | Fragment Ids | Required. Array of text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| uniqueCount | Unique Count | Required. Safe integer. |
| duplicatePositions | Duplicate Positions | Required. Array of safe integer; maximum items 256. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Repeated labels are evidence of duplicate identifiers, not necessarily duplicate physical fragments. No image, specimen, provenance, or identity resolution is performed.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use validated laboratory procedures, traceable measurements, and authenticated specimen records for a complete assessment. Check the relevant sampling and processing assumptions before interpreting a local quantity.
