Tissue Block Sampling Share Tool

Calculate tissue block sampling share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Sum all volumes into totalVolume and selected valid-source volumes into sampledValidVolume; return their share when positive, otherwise zero with defined=false.

Laboratory records distinguish specimen identity, sampling coverage, retained quantities, processing times, image scale, and measurement uncertainty. Areas, volumes, counts, and source-support flags measure different aspects of a record. A local calculation does not identify tissue or establish diagnostic adequacy.

Sum all volumes into totalVolume and selected valid-source volumes into sampledValidVolume; return their share when positive, otherwise zero with defined=false.

When to use this tool

Use Tissue Block Sampling Share when you need this specimen-record, sampling, processing-time, dimensional, or uncertainty calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter blockVolumes, selected, validSource. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalVolume, sampledValidVolume, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Require aligned nonnegative blockVolumes, selected, and validSource arrays. Sum all volumes into totalVolume and selected valid-source volumes into sampledValidVolume; return their share when positive, otherwise zero with defined=false.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Volumes and source flags are supplied and overlap is not removed. A volume-weighted share is not proof of representative tissue sampling, cellular composition, or diagnostic adequacy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use validated laboratory procedures, traceable measurements, and authenticated specimen records for a complete assessment. Check the relevant sampling and processing assumptions before interpreting a local quantity.
