Voice Open Phase Cycle Fraction

Normalize explicitly marked open-phase time to one vocal cycle without estimating physiological validity.

Loading tool…

Description

Calculate a voice cycle's supplied open-phase fraction.

ENT records use explicit laterality, event markers, sampling clocks, collection volumes and anatomical/source labels. A rate or point resistance needs compatible units, while video timing depends on frame-rate assumptions. These local measurements and records do not detect a clinical event, assess airway function or choose treatment.

Calculate a voice cycle's supplied open-phase fraction.

When to use this tool

Use Voice Open Phase Cycle Fraction when you already have openPhaseDuration, cycleDuration and need to calculate a voice cycle's supplied open-phase fraction.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter openPhaseDuration, cycleDuration. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read openFraction, closedDuration. Use the output convention below.

Require cycleDuration>0 and openPhaseDuration within the cycle; return open/cycle and cycle-open as closedDuration.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
openPhaseDurationOpen Phase DurationRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
cycleDurationCycle DurationRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
openFractionOpen FractionRequired. Finite number.
closedDurationClosed DurationRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Durations need matching units; no laryngeal phase, signal, vocal function or diagnosis is detected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original signal, collection protocol and video acquisition timing for the actual measurement. Preserve supplied side and site sources; a local volume/time rate, frame offset or point ratio does not replace a complete functional assessment.
