Swallowing Event Frame Index

Locate an explicitly marked swallowing-video frame on a supplied constant-rate timeline without classifying the event.

Description

Convert a supplied swallowing-event video frame to time.

ENT records use explicit laterality, event markers, sampling clocks, collection volumes and anatomical/source labels. A rate or point resistance needs compatible units, while video timing depends on frame-rate assumptions. These local measurements and records do not detect a clinical event, assess airway function or choose treatment.

Convert a supplied swallowing-event video frame to time.

When to use this tool

Use Swallowing Event Frame Index when you already have zeroBasedFrame, frameRateHz, startOffsetSeconds and need to convert a supplied swallowing-event video frame to time.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter zeroBasedFrame, frameRateHz, startOffsetSeconds. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eventSeconds. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative safe whole zeroBasedFrame and frameRateHz>0; return startOffsetSeconds+frame/frameRate.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
zeroBasedFrameZero Based FrameRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
frameRateHzFrame Rate HzRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
startOffsetSecondsStart Offset SecondsRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
eventSecondsEvent SecondsRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Assumes constant frame rate; no swallowing event, aspiration, timing validity or clinical safety is assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original signal, collection protocol and video acquisition timing for the actual measurement. Preserve supplied side and site sources; a local volume/time rate, frame offset or point ratio does not replace a complete functional assessment.
