Laryngeal Video Frame Latency

Reference an explicitly marked laryngeal video frame to a supplied reference frame and constant rate.

Description

Measure signed video latency between two supplied frame indices.

ENT records use explicit laterality, event markers, sampling clocks, collection volumes and anatomical/source labels. A rate or point resistance needs compatible units, while video timing depends on frame-rate assumptions. These local measurements and records do not detect a clinical event, assess airway function or choose treatment.

Measure signed video latency between two supplied frame indices.

When to use this tool

Use Laryngeal Video Frame Latency when you already have frameIndex, referenceFrame, framesPerSecond and need to measure signed video latency between two supplied frame indices.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter frameIndex, referenceFrame, framesPerSecond. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read latencySeconds. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative safe whole frame/reference indices and framesPerSecond>0; return (frame-reference)/fps seconds.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
frameIndexFrame IndexRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
referenceFrameReference FrameRequired. Safe integer; minimum 0.
framesPerSecondFrames Per SecondRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
latencySecondsLatency SecondsRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative latency is retained; no event is detected and variable timing, dropped frames and clinical interpretation are excluded.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original signal, collection protocol and video acquisition timing for the actual measurement. Preserve supplied side and site sources; a local volume/time rate, frame offset or point ratio does not replace a complete functional assessment.
