Nasal Flow Pressure Point Resistance

Divide an explicit nasal pressure difference by compatible signed volume flow without interpreting airflow limitation.

Loading tool…

Description

Calculate signed point resistance from supplied pressure difference and volume flow.

ENT records use explicit laterality, event markers, sampling clocks, collection volumes and anatomical/source labels. A rate or point resistance needs compatible units, while video timing depends on frame-rate assumptions. These local measurements and records do not detect a clinical event, assess airway function or choose treatment.

Calculate signed point resistance from supplied pressure difference and volume flow.

When to use this tool

Use Nasal Flow Pressure Point Resistance when you already have pressureDifference, volumeFlow and need to calculate signed point resistance from supplied pressure difference and volume flow.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter pressureDifference, volumeFlow. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedResistance. Use the output convention below.

Require volumeFlow!=0; return pressureDifference/volumeFlow.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
pressureDifferencePressure DifferenceRequired. Finite number.
volumeFlowVolume FlowRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
signedResistancePressure difference/volume flow; unit and sign follow the supplied bases.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Units determine the resistance unit and signs depend on the stated convention; no airway geometry, flow curve, diagnosis or suitable test is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original signal, collection protocol and video acquisition timing for the actual measurement. Preserve supplied side and site sources; a local volume/time rate, frame offset or point ratio does not replace a complete functional assessment.
