Description
Compare supplied repeated bench landmark readings without diagnostic or efficacy interpretation.
Evidence review distinguishes reporting completeness, source identity, timing, comparator descriptions, and the validity of a clinical claim. Matching metadata or calculating an interval cannot establish study quality or treatment efficacy. Measurement and protocol conventions need to remain explicit before records are compared.

When to use this tool
Use Research Landmark Repeat Difference when you need this specific evidence-record, measurement, interval, comparator, or protocol check.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstReading, secondReading, suppliedScale, reverseAxis. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read signedDifference, absoluteDifference. Use the output convention below.
For positive suppliedScale return signedDifference=(secondReading-firstReading)*scale with sign reversed if reverseAxis, and absoluteDifference=abs(second-first)*scale.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| firstReading | First Reading | Required. Finite number. |
| secondReading | Second Reading | Required. Finite number. |
| suppliedScale | Positive multiplier converting the supplied coordinate or measurement difference into output units. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| reverseAxis | Reverse Axis | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| signedDifference | Signed Difference | Required. Finite number. |
| absoluteDifference | Absolute Difference | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Readings need one unit and scale maps into the intended output unit. The sign flag is a coordinate convention; repeat difference does not establish palpatory reliability, an anatomical change, or a diagnosis.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a substantive source and study appraisal for clinical claims. Verify methods, preregistration, reporting, comparator conditions, and measurement validity beyond matching labels or calculated completeness.
