Description
Audit a supplied effect interval and explicit null/end-point convention.
Evidence review distinguishes reporting completeness, source identity, timing, comparator descriptions, and the validity of a clinical claim. Matching metadata or calculating an interval cannot establish study quality or treatment efficacy. Measurement and protocol conventions need to remain explicit before records are compared.
Audit a supplied effect interval and explicit null/end-point convention.
When to use this tool
Use Osteopathy Evidence Interval Null Gap when you need this specific evidence-record, measurement, interval, comparator, or protocol check.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter lower, upper, nullValue, lowerClosed, upperClosed. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read width, lowerGap, upperGap, includesNull. Inspect includesNull before interpreting the associated values.
Require upper>=lower. Return width=upper-lower, lowerGap=nullValue-lower, upperGap=upper-nullValue, and includesNull using the selected lowerClosed and upperClosed comparisons.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| lower | Lower | Required. Finite number. |
| upper | Upper | Required. Finite number. |
| nullValue | Null Value | Required. Finite number. |
| lowerClosed | Lower Closed | Required. Boolean. |
| upperClosed | Upper Closed | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| width | Width | Required. Finite number. |
| lowerGap | Lower Gap | Required. Finite number. |
| upperGap | Upper Gap | Required. Finite number. |
| includesNull | Whether the supplied null lies within the selected open/closed interval. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The interval and null are supplied on one effect scale. Endpoint conventions are explicit; this arithmetic does not infer a confidence level, statistical significance, clinical importance, or treatment efficacy.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a substantive source and study appraisal for clinical claims. Verify methods, preregistration, reporting, comparator conditions, and measurement validity beyond matching labels or calculated completeness.
