Description

Supplied bench nominal-size comparison without implant selection or clinical suitability advice.

Orthopedic bench and imaging records combine force, displacement, geometric dimensions, coordinate frames, weights, and reference measurements. An ideal material term or dimensional margin depends on its model and units. It does not by itself establish implant compatibility, tissue behavior, or safe clinical loading.

Supplied bench nominal-size comparison without implant selection or clinical suitability advice.

When to use this tool

Use Implant Size Measurement Residual when you need this bench, geometry, reference, score-denominator, or measurement term from supplied data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measuredSize, labeledSize, suppliedUnitFactor, tolerance. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read convertedSize, residual, insideSuppliedTolerance. Inspect insideSuppliedTolerance before interpreting the associated values.

For positive suppliedUnitFactor and nonnegative tolerance return convertedSize=measuredSize*factor, residual=convertedSize-labeledSize, and insideSuppliedTolerance=(abs(residual)<=tolerance).1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
measuredSizeMeasured SizeRequired. Finite number.

Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
convertedSizeConverted SizeRequired. Finite number.
residualSigned recorded/observed-minus-implied discrepancy under the stated formula.Required. Finite number.
insideSuppliedToleranceAbsolute dimensional check under the supplied tolerance; no clinical approval.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The factor maps measured into label units and tolerance uses the target unit. Passing a supplied dimensional tolerance does not establish implant identity, manufacturing compliance, compatibility, or clinical suitability.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete material, imaging, or assessment model for the intended question. Verify measurement units, calibration, load conditions, geometry, missingness, and reference assumptions before combining terms.
