Description

Signed nominal bench clearance between supplied concentric diameters, without implant sizing advice.

Orthopedic bench and imaging records combine force, displacement, geometric dimensions, coordinate frames, weights, and reference measurements. An ideal material term or dimensional margin depends on its model and units. It does not by itself establish implant compatibility, tissue behavior, or safe clinical loading.

Signed nominal bench clearance between supplied concentric diameters, without implant sizing advice.

When to use this tool

Use Implant Bench Interface Gap when you need this bench, geometry, reference, score-denominator, or measurement term from supplied data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter socketSize, implantSize, coatingPerSide. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read diametralGap, radialGap. Use the output convention below.

For nonnegative socketSize, implantSize, and coatingPerSide return diametralGap=socketSize-implantSize-2*coatingPerSide and radialGap=diametralGap/2.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Sizes are treated as compatible diameters and coating as a thickness on each side. Negative gaps are retained; shape, tolerances, deformation, fixation mechanics, and safe clinical fit are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete material, imaging, or assessment model for the intended question. Verify measurement units, calibration, load conditions, geometry, missingness, and reference assumptions before combining terms.
