Description

Bench concentric-diameter tolerance envelope; no implant fit, load capacity or surgical recommendation.

Orthopedic bench and imaging records combine force, displacement, geometric dimensions, coordinate frames, weights, and reference measurements. An ideal material term or dimensional margin depends on its model and units. It does not by itself establish implant compatibility, tissue behavior, or safe clinical loading.

Bench concentric-diameter tolerance envelope; no implant fit, load capacity or surgical recommendation.

When to use this tool

Use Implant Bench Clearance Diameter Term when you need this bench, geometry, reference, score-denominator, or measurement term from supplied data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter boreDiameter, shaftDiameter, boreTolerance, shaftTolerance. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read nominalDiametralClearance, minimumClearance, maximumClearance, nominalRadialClearance. Use the output convention below.

For nonnegative boreDiameter, shaftDiameter, boreTolerance, and shaftTolerance return nominalDiametralClearance=bore-shaft, minimumClearance=nominal-boreTolerance-shaftTolerance, maximumClearance=nominal+boreTolerance+shaftTolerance, and nominalRadialClearance=nominal/2.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Tolerances are symmetric absolute diameter halfwidths in one length unit, not statistical deviations. Negative clearances represent interference; no actual implant matching, material response, or clinical suitability is validated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete material, imaging, or assessment model for the intended question. Verify measurement units, calibration, load conditions, geometry, missingness, and reference assumptions before combining terms.
