Description

Supplied bilateral research ratio and signed mean-normalized symmetry index, without a gait abnormality classification.

Orthopedic bench and imaging records combine force, displacement, geometric dimensions, coordinate frames, weights, and reference measurements. An ideal material term or dimensional margin depends on its model and units. It does not by itself establish implant compatibility, tissue behavior, or safe clinical loading.

Supplied bilateral research ratio and signed mean-normalized symmetry index, without a gait abnormality classification.

When to use this tool

Use Gait Research Left Right Ratio when you need this bench, geometry, reference, score-denominator, or measurement term from supplied data.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter left, right, referenceRatio. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read ratio, symmetryIndex, referenceGap. Use the output convention below.

For nonnegative left and positive right return ratio=left/right, symmetryIndex=2*(left-right)/(left+right), and referenceGap=ratio-referenceRatio.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Left and right need the same measurement unit and definition. The symmetry index is a fraction rather than a percent numeral; the supplied reference is unrestricted and no gait diagnosis or clinical normality threshold is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete material, imaging, or assessment model for the intended question. Verify measurement units, calibration, load conditions, geometry, missingness, and reference assumptions before combining terms.
