Description
Aggregate already weighted research item contributions with explicit observed and missing weight budgets, without a scale scoring key or clinical interpretation.
Orthopedic bench and imaging records combine force, displacement, geometric dimensions, coordinate frames, weights, and reference measurements. An ideal material term or dimensional margin depends on its model and units. It does not by itself establish implant compatibility, tissue behavior, or safe clinical loading.
Aggregate already weighted research item contributions with explicit observed and missing weight budgets, without a scale scoring key or clinical interpretation.
When to use this tool
Use Orthopedic Research Score Item Denominator when you need this bench, geometry, reference, score-denominator, or measurement term from supplied data.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter weightedScores, eligibleWeights, missingWeights. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read weightedSum, observedWeight, totalWeight, observedWeightedMean. Use the output convention below.
Require aligned weightedScores and eligibleWeights, nonnegative eligibleWeights and missingWeights, and positive observed weight sum. Return weightedSum=sum(weightedScores), observedWeight=sum(eligibleWeights), totalWeight=observed+sum(missingWeights), and observedWeightedMean=weightedSum/observedWeight.1

|---|---|---|
| weightedScores | Already-weighted contributions; summed without multiplying by eligibleWeights again. | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| eligibleWeights | Eligible Weights | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| missingWeights | Additional missing weights; need not align with observed score rows. | Required. Array of finite number; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| weightedSum | Sum of already-weighted score contributions. | Required. Finite number. |
| observedWeight | Observed Weight | Required. Finite number. |
| totalWeight | Total Weight | Required. Finite number. |
| observedWeightedMean | Observed Weighted Mean | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- WeightedScores must already include their weights; they are not multiplied again. Missing weights affect totalWeight but not the returned mean, and the calculation does not validate an instrument, missingness model, or clinical score.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete material, imaging, or assessment model for the intended question. Verify measurement units, calibration, load conditions, geometry, missingness, and reference assumptions before combining terms.
