Dental Model Mesh Unit Crosswalk Tool

Rescale explicit mesh vertices between supplied unit bases.

Description

Rescale explicit mesh vertices between supplied unit bases.

Oral laboratory and research records use specimen labels, model coordinates, material quantities, event times, and device identifiers. A matching label or dimensional clearance answers a narrower question than verified anatomy, traceability, or clinical suitability. Source identity, reference frames, and measurement units must remain explicit.

Rescale explicit mesh vertices between supplied unit bases.

When to use this tool

Use Dental Model Mesh Unit Crosswalk when you need this specimen-record, device-label, timing, material, or model-geometry check.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter vertices, unitsPerMeter, targetUnitsPerMeter. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read vertices, factor. Use the output convention below.

For positive unitsPerMeter and targetUnitsPerMeter require each vertex to contain three numbers. Return factor=targetUnitsPerMeter/unitsPerMeter and each vertex coordinate multiplied by factor.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The conversion rescales a supplied mesh-coordinate list without changing topology or origin. It does not validate the unit labels, triangulate a surface, register anatomy, or verify surgical-guide accuracy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use authenticated records and the intended laboratory or measurement protocol for the full task. Verify source labels, coordinate frames, calibration, and the limits of the supplied physical model.
