Description

Explicit caller-requested zero/half-limit research substitution with a retained censor bound; no unmeasured size or clinical category is inferred.

Research lesion records distinguish measured dimensions, geometric size models, censoring conventions, assessment denominators, and follow-up timing. An axis product, percent change, or coverage measure describes only its stated inputs and model. Such arithmetic does not automatically implement a clinical response criterion or validate a study.

Explicit caller-requested zero/half-limit research substitution with a retained censor bound; no unmeasured size or clinical category is inferred.

When to use this tool

Use Tumor Research Censored Size Bound when you need this research measurement, assessment-base, source, or event-time calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter resolutionLimit, observedSize, belowLimit, useHalfLimit. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read analysisValue, substituted, upperCensorBound. Inspect substituted before interpreting the associated values.

For nonnegative resolutionLimit and observedSize return observedSize when belowLimit=false; otherwise substitute resolutionLimit/2 if useHalfLimit or zero if not. Return analysisValue, substituted=belowLimit, and upperCensorBound as the limit on the censored branch or observed size otherwise.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • BelowLimit is a supplied flag rather than checked against observedSize. Substitution is an explicit analysis convention, not a measured lesion size, uncertainty model, formal censoring analysis, or clinical conclusion.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the intended study protocol and a complete measurement or analysis model for a broader conclusion. Verify lesion definitions, censoring, measurement correspondence, time anchors, and missing-assessment policy.
