Description

Compare supplied research dimensions without clinical response criteria or diagnosis.

Research lesion records distinguish measured dimensions, geometric size models, censoring conventions, assessment denominators, and follow-up timing. An axis product, percent change, or coverage measure describes only its stated inputs and model. Such arithmetic does not automatically implement a clinical response criterion or validate a study.

When to use this tool

Use Research Lesion Dimension Change when you need this research measurement, assessment-base, source, or event-time calculation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter baselineDimension, followupDimension, suppliedScale. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read absoluteChange, relativeChange, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

For nonnegative baselineDimension and followupDimension and positive suppliedScale return absoluteChange=(followup-baseline)*scale. Return relativeChange=(followup-baseline)/baseline when baseline is nonzero, otherwise zero with defined=false.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
baselineDimensionBaseline DimensionRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
followupDimensionFollowup DimensionRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
suppliedScaleSupplied ScaleRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
absoluteChangeAbsolute ChangeRequired. Finite number.
relativeChangeDimensionless change fraction; zero placeholder if defined=false.Required. Finite number.
definedWhether the stated denominator or quantity is defined; inspect before using a placeholder.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Scale affects the absolute change only and converts source length to output units. Relative zero on a zero baseline is a placeholder; no lesion-response category, measurement-quality judgment, or clinical recommendation is produced.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the intended study protocol and a complete measurement or analysis model for a broader conclusion. Verify lesion definitions, censoring, measurement correspondence, time anchors, and missing-assessment policy.
