Occupational Session Material Portion

Calculate an explicit session-material allocation on compatible quantity units without prescribing activities.

Description

Calculate a session's allocated material fraction and unallocated remainder.

Occupational-therapy records preserve the user's stated roles, goals, assistance and task context. Time shares and normalized preferences depend on their declared denominator or scale, while prompt counts are observations rather than measures of independence by themselves. Device geometry and loan balances need verified source records before broader interpretation.

Calculate a session's allocated material fraction and unallocated remainder.

When to use this tool

Use Occupational Session Material Portion when you already have totalMaterial, allocatedPortion and need to calculate a session's allocated material fraction and unallocated remainder.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter totalMaterial, allocatedPortion. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read portionFraction, unallocatedMaterial. Use the output convention below.

Require totalMaterial>0 and allocatedPortion in [0,total]; return allocated/total and total-allocated.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
totalMaterialTotal MaterialRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
allocatedPortionAllocated PortionRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
portionFractionPortion FractionRequired. Finite number.
unallocatedMaterialUnallocated MaterialRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Amounts need compatible units; this does not determine suitable materials, activity goals or an appropriate allocation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the original activity record, client-stated priorities and assessment instrument for a substantive assessment. Inspect actual devices and inventory when fit, condition or availability matters; scalar offsets and record counts preserve narrower facts.
