Shift Exposure Time Weight

Calculate one explicitly supplied linear exposure-time contribution without selecting a regulatory TWA model or exposure limit.

Description

Calculate one exposure-time-weighted contribution to a supplied reference duration.

Occupational exposure records need explicit agents, units, reference durations, method editions and observation conditions. A linear time-weighted contribution differs from a complete shift average and from logarithmic noise calculations. A recorded fit date or consent flag is metadata, rather than proof of protection, valid authority or safe exposure.

Calculate one exposure-time-weighted contribution to a supplied reference duration.

When to use this tool

Use Shift Exposure Time Weight when you already have exposureLevel, exposureHours, referenceHours and need to calculate one exposure-time-weighted contribution to a supplied reference duration.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter exposureLevel, exposureHours, referenceHours. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read weightedContribution, timeWeight. Use the output convention below.

Require exposureHours>=0 and referenceHours>0; return exposureLevel*exposureHours/referenceHours and exposureHours/referenceHours.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
exposureLevelSigned level in the caller's linear exposure unit; not a logarithmic sound level.Required. Finite number.
exposureHoursExposure HoursRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
referenceHoursReference HoursRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
weightedContributionexposureLevel*exposureHours/referenceHours, one contribution rather than a complete shift average.Required. Finite number.
timeWeightexposureHours/referenceHours; can exceed one.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Exposure level may be signed and time weight may exceed one. This is a linear contribution, not a logarithmic-noise average, complete shift average or exposure-compliance assessment.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the full measurement protocol, calibrated observations and applicable source method for an exposure assessment. Reconcile fit, consent and equipment records independently; one weighted term or source label does not establish adequacy or compliance.
