Rounding Visit Window Margin

Compare an explicit rounding-visit time with a supplied inclusive observation window without selecting care frequency.

Description

Calculate margins to a supplied closed nursing-visit window.

Nursing records connect observations, chart-entry times, handoff identifiers, device assignments and task status. A timestamp delay differs from verified retrospective documentation, and a matching identifier differs from an authenticated specimen or handoff. Time windows and due times must retain their stated boundary rules.

Calculate margins to a supplied closed nursing-visit window.

When to use this tool

Use Rounding Visit Window Margin when you already have visitTime, windowStart, windowEnd and need to calculate margins to a supplied closed nursing-visit window.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter visitTime, windowStart, windowEnd. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read lowerMargin, upperMargin, withinWindow. Inspect withinWindow before interpreting the associated values.

Require windowEnd>=windowStart; lowerMargin=visit-start, upperMargin=end-visit and withinWindow means start<=visit<=end.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
visitTimeVisit TimeRequired. Finite number.
windowStartWindow StartRequired. Finite number.
windowEndWindow EndRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
lowerMarginLower MarginRequired. Finite number.
upperMarginUpper MarginRequired. Finite number.
withinWindowClosed interval: both endpoints count as withinWindow.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Both boundaries are included; no actual visit, priority, care adequacy or required rounding interval is determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile original chart, specimen and handoff records when identity or completion matters. Use the documented workflow and actual care context for task timing; a literal match or supplied time margin is only one local record check.
