Description

Compare a measurement to an explicit limit after a supplied directed unit factor.

Occupational exposure calculations combine measured quantities, duration, reference conditions, weighting, and sampling support. Linear concentrations, squared acceleration, and logarithmic sound levels require different arithmetic. A supplied reference or limit is not automatically the applicable standard, and a local calculation is separate from a full exposure and safety assessment.

Compare a measurement to an explicit limit after a supplied directed unit factor.

When to use this tool

Use Exposure Limit Supplied Units Crosswalk when you need this particular sampling, duration, reference-unit, physical-exposure, or reporting-base term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter measured, measuredUnit, limit, limitUnit, conversionFactor. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read converted, margin, exceeds. Inspect exceeds before interpreting the associated values.

Require nonempty measuredUnit and limitUnit labels and a positive conversionFactor. Return converted=measured*factor, margin=limit-converted, and exceeds=(converted>limit).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The factor must map measured into limit units, but labels and conversion are not verified and signed measured/limit values are permitted. A supplied limit comparison does not establish the applicable legal standard, measurement validity, or safe workplace exposure.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use a complete hazard-specific assessment with calibrated measurements and the appropriate exposure model. Verify reference conditions, sampling coverage, weighting, denominator, and the applicable professional or regulatory method.
