Postmenstrual Age Reference Gap Tool

Add explicit research age coordinates and compare to a reference without clinical maturity classification.

Description

Add gestationalDaysAtBirth and postnatalDays, then subtract referenceDays for gap.

Age is a difference between an event and a selected origin. Gestational, chronological, corrected, and source-record coordinates can differ even when expressed in the same time unit.

Add gestationalDaysAtBirth and postnatalDays, then subtract referenceDays for gap.

When to use this tool

Use Postmenstrual Age Reference Gap when you need to compare explicit age origins or recorded time coordinates.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter gestationalDaysAtBirth, postnatalDays, referenceDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read suppliedCombinedDays, gap. Use the output convention below.

Add gestationalDaysAtBirth and postnatalDays, then subtract referenceDays for gap. All inputs are nonnegative days.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The supplied gestational estimate and reference convention are not validated clinically; no calendar or developmental assessment is performed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Keep the original timestamps and age definitions, and confirm the intended convention with the relevant clinical or research protocol.
