Corrected Age Reference Gap Tool

Compare caller-supplied research age correction and reference values without deriving prematurity adjustments or developmental norms.

Description

Subtract suppliedCorrectionDays from recordedAgeDays, then subtract referenceAgeDays for gapDays.

Age is a difference between an event and a selected origin. Gestational, chronological, corrected, and source-record coordinates can differ even when expressed in the same time unit.

Subtract suppliedCorrectionDays from recordedAgeDays, then subtract referenceAgeDays for gapDays.

When to use this tool

Use Corrected Age Reference Gap when you need to compare explicit age origins or recorded time coordinates.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recordedAgeDays, suppliedCorrectionDays, referenceAgeDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read correctedAgeDays, gapDays. Use the output convention below.

Subtract suppliedCorrectionDays from recordedAgeDays, then subtract referenceAgeDays for gapDays.1

Corrected age accounts for prematurity by subtracting the time born early from chronological age. This tool accepts a correction explicitly instead of choosing a gestational reference or clinical policy.2

Limitations and assumptions

  • The correction is caller supplied and signed outputs are possible; this does not select a clinical correction policy.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Keep the original timestamps and age definitions, and confirm the intended convention with the relevant clinical or research protocol.
